Nginx 1.4.0, for Wheezy and Squeeze

Nginx 1.4.0 stable version has been released on April 24th 2013, incorporating many new features developed in the 1.3.x branch :

As a consequence, Dotdeb’s packages of Nginx 1.4.0 are now available for both Debian 7.0 “Wheezy” and Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” (amd64/i386) with the following changes :

  • (Wheezy only) SPDY support has been enabled in nginx-extras and nginx-full.
  • (Wheezy only) the nginx-passenger flavor has been removed. You should use unicorn or uwsgi-plugin-rack-ruby* instead.
  • nginx-extras now supports HTTP Gunzip.
  • Naxsi has been upgraded to 0.50.
  • chunkin-nginx-module (useless now) and nginx-upload-module (incompatible with 3.1.8+) are no longer supported.
  • The headers-more, echo, lua, Push stream, Pinba and Passenger modules got minor upgrades.

Zabbix 2.0.6

Zabbix 2.0.6 has been released today, bringing new translation, better performance at low-level discovery and bug fixes (take a look at the Zabbix 2.0.6 release notes for more info).

The packages are now available for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” on both amd64 and i386 architectures.

PHP 5.3.24

On April 11th 2013, the PHP group has released PHP 5.3.24.

These releases fix about 10 bugs aswell as upgrading the bundled PCRE library. All users of PHP are encouraged to upgrade to PHP 5.4.14.

The corresponding packages are now available on Dotdeb for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” on both amd64 and i386 architectures with the following changes. As usual, please read the ChangeLog before upgrading and be sure to use to the latest packages before reporting any issue.

PHP 5.4.14

On April 11th 2013, the PHP group has released PHP 5.4.14.

These releases fix about 10 bugs aswell as upgrading the bundled PCRE library. All users of PHP are encouraged to upgrade to PHP 5.4.14.

Nginx 1.2.8

Nginx 1.2.8 has been released with 4 bugfixes. See the full Changelog for more details.

As a consequence, Dotdeb’s packages of Nginx 1.2.8 are now available for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” (amd64/i386) with the following changes :

  • The config of the default vhost is now ok by default (see [Edit]).
  • The X-rid header module has been added to all the Nginx flavors.
  • The chunkin-nginx-module, headers-more-nginx-module, nginx-cache-purge, nginx-echo, nginx-lua, nginx-push-stream-module and ngx_http_substitution_filter_module modules have been updated.

[Edit] A minor update (1.2.8-1~dotdeb.2) has been published :

  • it now displays errors at startup, if any
  • the ipv6only typo has been fixed, the default vhost now works perfectly.

Redis 2.6.12

Redis 2.6.12 has been released, bringing the following changes (take a look at the Changelog) :

  • [BUGFIX] redis-cli --bigkeys: don’t crash with empty DB.
  • [BUGFIX] stop-writes-on-bgsave-error now works in redis.conf
  • [BUGFIX] Don’t crash at startup if RDB is there but can’t be opened.
  • [BUGFIX] Initial value for master_link_down_since_seconds is now huge.
  • [BUGFIX] Allow SELECT while loading the DB.
  • [BUGFIX] Don’t replicate/AOF an empty MULTI/EXEC if the transaction is empty or containing just read-only commands.
  • [BUGFIX] EXPIRE should not be able to resurrect keys (see issue #1026).
  • [IMPROVED] Extended SET back ported from Redis 2.8 / unstable. See http://redis.io/commands/set for more information.
  • [IMPROVED] Test suite improved.

The upgrade urgency is moderate, nothing very critical but a few non trivial bugs.

The packages are now available for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” on both amd64 and i386 architectures.

Percona toolkit 2.2.1

Percona toolkit 2.2.1 is now available on Dotdeb for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze”. It supports MySQL 5.6 and Percona XtraDB Cluster, and brings some more changes :

  • pt-online-schema-change (pt-osc) is much more resilient
  • pt-upgrade is brand-new
  • pt-query-digest is simpler
  • Version check is on by default
  • pt-query-advisor, pt-tcp-model, pt-trend, and pt-log-player are gone
  • pt-stalk and pt-mysql-summary have built-in MySQL options
  • pt-stalk --no-stalk is no longer magical
  • pt-fk-error-logger and pt-deadlock-logger are standardized

Redis 2.6.11

Redis 2.6.11 has been released, bringing the following changes (take a look at the Changelog) :

  • [BUGFIX] Replication: more strict error checking for master PING reply.
  • [BUGFIX] redis-cli: use keepalive socket option for improved reliability.
  • [BUGFIX] Allow AUTH while loading the DB in memory.
  • [BUGFIX] Don’t segfault on unbalanced quotes while parsing config file.
  • [IMPROVED] serverCron() frequency is now a runtime parameter (was REDIS_HZ).
  • [IMPROVED] Use a lot less CPU when idle, even with many configured DBs.

The upgrade urgency is low, however updating is encouraged if you have many instances per server and you want to lower the CPU / energy usage.

The packages are now available for Debian 6.0 “Squeeze” on both amd64 and i386 architectures.
