Thanks for all the great packages you provide. I have one problem: I installed the zabbix-server-mysql package, but while attempting to install Zabbix it only lets me select a PostgreSQL database.

@Ambiguity Denormalizir : feel free to use the packages you want πŸ™‚

1/ Dotdeb has provided Debian packages of Zabbix before there were “official” ones and keep doing so because we care about out users.
2/ Zabbix packages from Dotdeb are fully compatible with the Debian maintainer’s work.
3/ You’re right, Zabbix 2.0.9 isn’t the latest Zabbix version (2.2 was released 2 weeks ago…), but the 2.0 branch is still maintained and I’m currently working on 2.2 packages.

Ah, ok, so itΒ΄s kind of a “legacy” thing – I was just searching the web for debian zabbix packages and came across this site.

It will be very helpful when you just put one little piece of text with some information on top of each package page (I clicked on zabbix on the right menu) – this will help to get some context for people that are visiting this site and are not insiders. “Zabbix 2.0.9 has been released on October 8th 2013” is not helpful at all and does not explain, why this package is here on this site…

regarding the version: yes two weeks is not much time for a casual bystander – but for a package administrator it is an unbelievable long time – hopefully the maintainer was not “surprised” that there are new packages?

However, thank you very much for your efforts – but donΒ΄t take too much, so that you can keep in sync with the upstream πŸ™‚

Official Zabbix packages ships for Wheezy only, (or ubuntu), yet there are plenty of servers running on squeeze out there – and they won’t be upgraded soon, trust me πŸ™‚ .

Official Debian packages covers squeeze to sid but they still deliver old Zabbix on squeeze and the latest on sid only (unstable), not even jessie (testing) – according to packages.debian.org/search?keywords=zabbix .

Dotdeb packages might be two weeks behind upstream, but ships almost-latest version for both squeeze and wheezy. Looks like dotdeb is the most updated AND comprehensive source for Zabbix (as well as other packages).

Given that, thank you Guillaume!
